Houston Rapper and Producer BeatKing Dies at 39
Legendary Texas rapper BeatKing has died at 39. Justin Riley, the rapper and producer behind “Then Leave” and “Scream,” dominated Houston’s underground scene. Tasha Felder, BeatKing’s manager, announced his death on Instagram on August 15. Houston’s music scene relied on the Houston native’s songs for club anthems. He collaborated with 2 Chainz, Moneybagg Yo, and Erica Banks, influencing artists beyond Houston. “Then Leave,” BeatKing’s latest chart hit, reached No. 3 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 and No. 48 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. His unique approach and hit-making skills made him popular in rap. His daughters, regularly mentioned in his music and social media, survive BeatKing. The cause of his death is unknown.
